College/University Relations

Start Smart

AAUW’s research on the gender pay gap shows that, one year out of college, women are already paid significantly less than men; but women who negotiate increase their potential to earn higher salaries and better benefits packages. To address the gender pay gap, AAUW created Start Smart Workshops to teach college women how to articulate and negotiate their worth to employers.

AAUW Milwaukee is proud to sponsor in-person Start Smart workshops at Milwaukee area colleges and universities, and several of our branch members are trained salary negotiation workshop facilitators. If you work at or attend a Milwaukee area college and would like to learn about how to host a Start Smart Workshop on your campus, contact College & University Relations Chair, Jessica May, at jessicalmay@gmail.com. You can also participate in a free online workshop.

NCCWSL Scholarship

Each year, AAUW Milwaukee’s College & University Relations Committee provides a $1,000 scholarship for a Milwaukee area student to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL). To apply, please complete the NCCWSL Scholarship Application and email it to aauw.milwaukee@gmail.com by February 14, 2020.
