The AAUW Milwaukee Branch, first established in 1894, has a membership that includes people from the Greater Milwaukee area. Members develop friendships and take advantage of networking opportunities by attending meetings, serving on committees, and assisting at events.
Monthly Socials and Luncheon Programs are typically held the first Saturday of the month, September through May, at the Italian Community Center. Members and guests begin by gathering at 11am to network and socialize, then enjoy a lunch and speaker at 11:30am.
Branch publications include a monthly newsletter with topics, news, and updates on relevant issues, as well as containing information on upcoming Branch meetings, committee work and events. Our branch members also receive state and national publications, which provide articles with regard to issues significant for women and girls, and inform members about noteworthy activities related to AAUW’s mission.
Membership is open to any person who holds an associate degree or higher from an accredited United States or international college or university.
Milwaukee Branch boasts having a membership that is diverse in several respects, with a younger average age, including those serving on the Board of Directors. Some members of the Branch who are also on the State Board are currently assisting the state in establishing a Wisconsin-based Student Advisory Group.
